    Throttle Body Question

I would totally agree that the TB spacer is not worth it. If you are looking at first mods to make to your car follow the advice already given. The CAI and tune is the best bang for the buck for our cars. Here are the gains you can expect based on tests from magazines and other sources I've...

    Squeaking rear suspension?

Well you have bushings on your upper and lower control arms and they are probably what are squeaking. I don't remember if the stock control arms have grease zerk fittings or not, but most aftermarket control arms do. So check yours to see what you've got. You can buy a zerk grease gun and...

    No Tune CAI's

That sounds stupid or lazy (to lazy to make a custom tune for you). The venturi reduces the MAF size and keeps the air velocity high to keep the stock computer tune happy. Removing the venturi increases the airflow and will increase power. You should email Brenspeed and see what they say about...

    1st time at the track

Based on the conditions in San Antonio now (from weather.com) Temperature of 74 degrees Barometric Pressure of 29.86 inches hg Relative Humidity at 73% Those conditions add 1307 ft of density altitude. It doesn't make a huge difference, depending on your actual altitude about 1-1.5 mph in trap...

    1st time at the track

What altitude are you at? If you are at sea level that trap speed is low, but if you are at high altitude it looks appropriate. A car looses about 4% power for every 1000 ft in altitude above sea level, because the air is less dense. If you want to get really technical you can calculate your...

    Going to the dyno tomorrow

It's an estimate based on the weight of my car and the mph in 1/4 mile. But that is of course very subjective. But 380 shouldn't be that far off, here is what I figure. Flywheel HP Stock...

    Going to the dyno tomorrow

I rechecked the calculations and it is 110.3 mph. And given that I made a mistake earlier, it is possible that I made another one (although I triple checked this time). The track conditions at the time of my run were as follows: Altitude = 3300 ft Barometric Pressure = 29.84 inches/Hg...

    Going to the dyno tomorrow

Yeah, the H-pipes are good below 3000rpm, and in general they have a deeper tone than X-pipes. I definately noticed a more raspy tone at full throttle, though I liked it. As for the TB I cannot say I felt a huge improvement in power, but it had to have helped. I did dyno my car, but not...

    Going to the dyno tomorrow

A lot of people say the factory exhaust is free flowing, but it actually has some restrictions. The restrictions are primarily in the headers and h-pipe. The next time you are under your car take a look at the welds on the catalytic converters. 2.25 inch pipe is welded between the converters and...

For those of you who installed your own UDPs

I guess it is too late, but I was able to rent a puller at Autozone that worked perfectly. Advance auto also has one.

Which Charge Motion Control Plates to Go with?

Here is an install article along with a dyno test. As you will see you don't loose low end power, you actually gain it. I have seen several dyno tests with these and I don't recall seeing any power decrease in the low end. That is just one of the many internet myths that gets spread around...

    Suspension.....LCA, UCA, Springs

First time I've heard anyone say that. Steeda designs, manufacturers and races its own components. It is my understanding that they are top notch pieces. They have a good reputation for making quality road racing components.

    e85 85% ethanol fuel

Absolutely true. Starting in the 80's when the US began mixing ethanol in with gasoline car manufacturers were required to make improvements to the fuel system to ensure that the ethanol would not cause problems. The major problem with older cars was the rubber fuel line and rubber seals as the...

    2nd time at track=disapointment.

I agree. I'm hoping my home town track is better this year as they just replaced the asphalt from start to 1/8 mile. The track opens this weekend so I'm excited to see how much better it is.

    2nd time at track=disapointment.

I don't know how you only chirped going into second with the stock tires. My car tries to get sideways everytime I shift into second at the strip. I've even tried shifting really early, 5k rpms, and the rear tires still spun and kicked the rear end to the side.

    Suspension.....LCA, UCA, Springs

Are you planning on street driving, drag racing or road racing? I'm not sure about needing caster camber plates in the front, there are also bolts which are much cheaper and will work if you don't need a large adjustment. As far as the rear you should be okay with non-adjustable lower...

    Getting Better Gas Mileage

Here are the estimates. Supposedly from the US Department of Energy and EPA http://mustangs.about.com/od/2005/a/2005-mileage.htm Fords Vehicle Manufacturers Specifications Sheet for 2005 lists it at: 17mpg city and 25 highway for the 4.6L V8 19mpg city and 28 highway for the 4.0L V6...

    Getting Better Gas Mileage

I'm pretty sure nothings wrong. I get better than the EPA ratings. The EPA rates the 4.6 at 15mpg city/ 23mpg highway. I get far better than that and I easily get 17 city when I'm not behaving. But every car is a little different and every driving route is different so not everyone will report...
