P0402 code - "Excessive flow in the EGR system" - ?

More than likely it is the sensor, not the valve. I had a similar code, but inefficient. I went to autozone and they told me to change the entire valve ($50). It did nothing. I later read up on it on the internet and found that most EGR issues are caused by the sensor ($20 part from dealer).

    Rear Bumper accident

As I was backing out, there was low clearence and one of my tailpipe tips smashed into the rear bumper (see picture). What are my options to get this fixed? I can either get a whole new bumper cover (~$380 painted and shipped) or... I was thinking of maybe cutting the cracked part into a...

New Mustang Owner (sort of) - Touch up paint?

Just go to a dealership service center and get a small bottle of touch-up paint for free. They'll give you the correct color and all. That's what I did.

    About the Mustang that ticked

I have the same problem with my 2000 v6. I believe I read somewhere that it's the manifold gaskets. Read this post: http://www.3.8mustang.com/forum/showthread.php?t=87831&highlight=ticking I just never got around checking out the manifold and gaskets. I'm not 100% sure that's the problem.

    EGR Valve help

Can I return the EGR valve to autozone for a refund since they told me to get the wrong part? They scanned the code free and the parts manager seemed fairly confident when he told me I needed to replace the EGR valve - so I took his word and bought the $50 part. Also, is driving with the SES...

    EGR Valve help

Well I got a check engine light and it said that the EGR valve reported insufficient flow. Autozone said I needed a new EGR valve. I said okay and ordered it. I had a friend help me install it. We turned the battery off for about 5min and everything was fine. The check engine light went away...

K&N Gen II Cold Air Intake owners help

I had the stock air box put back and everything is back to normal. The check engine light is off. I don't understand why it is not working. LineX told me they've installed tons of CAIs and have never seen this. I asked if the CAI might be defective, and they said it is very unlikely as it's not...

K&N Gen II Cold Air Intake owners help

Actually, LineX called K&N for support (I was there, we were both trying to figure it out) and K&N basically said that the battery needed to be disconnected for a whole hour. We did that and still nothing changed. They then said that some cars can't take CAIs and no more help from them. Sounds...

K&N Gen II Cold Air Intake owners help

The car was completely stock when I bought it. I first had the K&N CAI professionally installed by LineX for $50. They said they followed the instructions and it's installed correctly. But the car was driving like crap (felt like not enough air going in) and CEL was on. I later took it out and...

K&N Gen II Cold Air Intake owners help

I have this CAI installed and am having problems with it. I was planning on putting the stock airbox back but want to give this another shot. I'm having problems with the MAF sensor. It's reading incorrectly and causing the check engine light to be on. How did you install the MAF sensor in it...

    Check Engine Light

I had a CEI after I installed I had a K&N Cold Air Intake professionally installed. It said the MAF sensor reported low reading and the temp. sensor reported too high readings. This is weird cause the CAI should increase the amount of COLD air. Anyway, never got the problem fixed. Got rid of the...

    Synthetic Oil

My 2000 v6 mustang has 93k mileage. I've used conventional oil in it, is it too late to change to synthetic? Would it cause more harm than good at this point?

    V6 Gas Mileage? Exaust?

My 2000 Mustang V6 (93k miles) gets around 16-21 mpg. If I really want to, I can get the gas mileage to be 21 if not more. Keep low rpms and let the car cruise in neutral when possible. But it's boring, I like accelerating fast and making the car sound mean, so my mpg varies. Ford did not lie...

    CAI: Are they worth it?

I have a 2000 Mustang V6 with 93k mileage. I can't return the CAI where I bought it from because my 30 days return period as expired. If you recall my other thread regarding the installation of the CAI, it was done by LineX. So it was installed professionally. The guy said he installed hundreds...

    CAI: Are they worth it?

I plan on removing my K&N Air filter and putting back the stock airbox. It simply did not work correctly. The CEL never came off and the car drove sluggish at times. It may or may not be a defective CAI, but my question is - are they really worth it? The horsepower gain is not significant to...
