    Progress Thread 1969 Mustang coupe

Looks nice. Roughly a year has elapsed since the original post- how many hours do you have on it so far? People always fail to appreciate the sheer amount of labor with decent paint and body.

    Fire and Ice

Bumping an old thread in the hopes that maybe someone knows where I might find the pictures from omewhere else. Most of the images are dead and the websites are expired. Would be a big loss if this stuff is nowhere else

Need some Holley experts to ID this

I had my 4779 750 out and working with it in my parts washer to swap on a 750 HP main body. When I was done, I saw this little screw on the shelf. IT MAY NOT BE FROM THE CARB... but it probably is, given I had just been working with it right there. It has a flat head screw slot in the top...

Can anyone simplify the 69 drop?

Stance also has a lot to do with your tire diameter. If the car has tall tires, you may not need to lower it much to just cover the tops of them and have a nice look. But if you have a 69 with newer 17s with the 25.5" tires, you have to drop a 69 pretty deep to look good. You'll need to cut...

'Click' sound from front suspension during braking?

Check your upper control arm shafts, and see whether the nuts that center it in the arm itself are not wobbling around in there. BTDT.

front end rises but doesn't come back down

I’d search on VMF as I recall more than one post there where guys had to cut their coils after going with roller perches and/or low-friction arms and strut rods. The new coils would extend on launch and would keep the body up there, until they backed up and hit the brakes(!) I think in each...

The Wilwood Superlite Brake Kit Thread

Did you get the 6 piston calipers for the front? They offer two different overall caliper bore sizes, and you want the larger one, especially with manual brakes. IIRC, the small 6 piston actually has less bore diameter than their larger 4 piston caliper. Can't tell you why...

    Bonehead

Damn, I should edit that... but this is a thread about boneheads so I have to leave it up to prove my point! :) And to be more of a bonehead, it was on the driver right rear, if you stepped out the drivers side, and were looking at the rear of the car. Work with me here :)

    Bonehead

Once had a noise coming from my rear axle, but I couldn't tell which side. I jacked the car up from under the rear carrier, started the car and put it in first so the wheels were spinning, and got out of the car to listen for the noise. After I successfully diagnosed that it was the drivers...

    CPRstreetmachines 1969 Turbo'd Pro-Touring GT2 build

If the car comes out anywhere near that rendering, I think it will be one of the hottest 69s on the planet. I've thought about the flat black across the entire top of the car as well. I have loved tasteful wheel flares on this car ever since I saw this car a hundred years ago...

Brake kits - manual versus auto trans, why?

Post the answer when you find out. I'm curious too. Other than the width of the pedal pad itself, I can't imagine why they need to know the trans type. Now, if asking Manual or power they mean the brakes, then yeah, I could see a difference in pedal ratios and supports.

    Preliminary dyno results

You could use more cam and carb to really maximize those 205s. I have a very similar build but with the 185s and it makes 530HP and 515 peak torque. I'd say based on that, you have some gains to be made if you care to go after them. Wheelspin is wheelspin, though, so you may not be able to use...

calling all pro touring or full race mustangs

Many of the others have made alot of sense. I will point out one thing regarding final drive ratios. When I track my car, it tops out 4th at around 130 due to 3.73 ring gear and 25.5" tires. Shifting the TKO 600 into 5th really drops the revs and hurts torque multiplication, as my box has the...

    Drive line /9 inch help

I hear what you're saying, but you getting away with it doesn't mean he will get away it, or that you will the next time. I'd rather give him the tech, like is shown here http://www.ford-trucks.com/article/idx/0/065/article/Ford_9_Inch_RebuildGear_Setup.html and then let him choose to...

    Drive line /9 inch help

Don't take that yoke off the rear end unless you are prepared to buy a new crush sleeve and know how to set it up properly with an inch pounds torque wrench etc. If you take that nut off, your chances of putting in back in with the proper bearing preload is basically zero, and you'll have a...

Tremec - who can do the package?

I would use Darkhorse if I was going to do it again. Plenty of the CA guys on VMF used them and I have never heard a complaint. http://www.darkhorseperformance.com/product.aspx?p_id=237003&d_id=24523 Regarding Forte Parts...CHPSK8, consider yourself lucky. Don't use Forte Parts. Here's my...

    Website Update, Tremec Rebuild Guide

Very nice work. I hope I never need the Tremec rebuild how-to for mine, but I did just add your site to my mustang favorites folder. PS- I like getting the fiance out there sanding on the car BEFORE the wedding. A true "try before you buy". :)

lowering rear of car w/o blocks (long)

I had 4-leafs with 1" blocks in my car and had fantastic wheelhop. Removed the blocks and wheelhop was a little better, but car sat too high. Went to mid-eye Maier 160LB 5 leafs and wheelhop is gone, but I still think the car sits too high. I'm not sure what to do b/c I track the car and it...

Brakes will be next, after you look at your stock setup through these beauts. The brake guys must love the 17" and up wheel phenomenon.
