Duke, I have the exact combination that you are considering. My 68 has a warmed up 302, 16" wheels, and a 3.55 diff. The TKO500 w/ 3.27 first gear is perfect for me. It easily leaves from the line, and if I stand on it, I can spin 'em.
I have a 500 cfm Edel on my 306. It runs very well and is snappy off the line. The motor has alum heads, moderate cam, and tri-ys. I have no complaints up to 5000 rpms. - have not pushed it beyond that.
My new clutch (Spec) was prone to chatter during the first several weeks of use. Two years later now, it will chatter a little if I have not driven the car in a few weeks. I find that with each more aggressive start, it smooths out nicely for the rest of the day. I use this as an excuse to...
I am going crazy. My 96 Cobra has a burning electrical smell coming from the drivers side of the motor - somewhere between the firewall and 18 inches forward of the firewall. I have put it up in the air and looked all over but the strong smell continues whenever the motor is running. I pulled...
So far (1,000 miles) I'm happy with my EBay 3.55 8" Limited Slip rebuilt 3rd member for $700. My motor is a warmed up 302 (cam, heads, tri-ys). I'm gentle with it though....
Excellent. I'll get one. Otherwise, I can picture my wife looking at a bent table fork, and saying, "with all those tools in your shop, you had to turn this into a pretzel?
The passenger door has an irritating rattle coming from inside the rear of the door below the lock knob. Any tricks I should know so I don't damage the trim/door panel when I remove it to see what is going on? Any common areas of noise there so I can have parts ready to go? Thanks.
It is not often that I am impressed by a vendor, but CJ Pony Parts worked hard to satisfy my needs. The seat upholstery kit arrived without the headrest covers and CJ immediately resolved the issue and had the third party manufacturer drop ship the covers to me. They arrived as promised. Well...
I struggled with the motor mount issue when it came time to replace the stock mounts. A nightmare - tall were too tall, short were too short. Nothing fit (mine is a 68 vert). Finally got Ron Morris mounts ($200+). Perfect solution.
That sounds like a pattern of corrupt dealing. Ford should be building brand equity through honesty - not making petty, unlawful policy changes that they can "get away with".
Moral of the story ... don't buy a Ford Extended Warranty or Ford Extended Service Plan (ESP).
Sorry, I was unclear. I purchased a car with a Ford Factory Reman Engine with a Transferrable Extended Warranty (ESP) (contract section 11A). Apparently Ford has decided not to honor the contract despite the previous owner's Transfer payment of $50 to Ford. It appears that they are not...
Hmm, another question: What are the external tell tale signs that a motor has been rebuilt? i don't want to get it and open it up to find that it has been everbored 30 or 40 thousandths.
Ford is refusing the transfer an extended warranty to me (per the contract terms Section 11A) for my Ford Factory crate 4.6 32V. They will not explain why and have decided to break the contract. I assume this is because a large Corporation can ignore one person, and their new internal policy...
Please correct me if I'm wrong. I think that the 89 5.0 roller may be an excellent platform because it has the roller cam, forged pistons, and basic EFI. Is there a better year block/engine to start a 302 or 331 build?
Mustbe, you don't happen have pictures of your extenders do you? I'm not a very good welder, but could probably make the extension if they are simple. I'm 6'2" and need to avoid getting closer to the vert hoops. Thanks!
