Well,

The weather was great last Saturday for the 11th annual Saleen show in Irvine. It was great to see everyone turn out. I took first in the 87-93 class and needless to say my buddy took 1st in the 94-98 class. I also took best in show as Steve chooses the winner of that prize and he was impressed that I used Windex on my windows that morning.

Thanks again Saleen for the use of headquarters in Irvine. We couldn't find the Carl's Jr coach anywhere around but were able to get a bite to eat down the road.

What a gyp.

You mean Steve didn't come out and say "hello", how rude!

.....would be difficult for Steve to come out of Saleen Headquarters to say "Hello" since he was escorted by security out of the building the last day of work when he "retired".

.....the show was a huge success, I had a great time. Jeff, thanks for taking the pictures and Marcus95 for breakfast. Glad to see Saleen Inc continued the tradition of their annual Saleen show with an open house for owners and enthusiasts a like. Of course, when there are no cars being produced in Irvine, would make no sense to have an open house. I think we have all seen a nearly empty warehouse before.

.....The SCOA members voluntareed plenty of bodies to help keep the annual show going so I know lack of support was not the reason for the show not happening. Maybe a Saleen representative can shed a light on the subject in Fontana next month at the Fun Ford West Weekend. The idea of 10 shows a year piggy backed to FFW schedule of events is complete BS......Every Saleen owner looks forward to the show in September and to completly cancel it is a slap in the face. Not that the owners of Saleen Inc really care about the owners of pre-05 Saleens but this is beginning to get out of hand. For once, can we get the actually truth about anything out of corporate Saleen???

Very well said Robert! I totally agree. Along with Saleen owners, the show was open to all other mustang classes as well. I have spoke with many other owners as well who are very disapointed that the annual show was cancelled. The show at Fontana is a piggy back on UPR' S event. The corporate answer is they all think we will like this better! Premier auto group can still show up at all Fun Ford Events as well. All of us owners in Saleen's native Southern California took this slap direct!

OK, I admit it. You really had me going there, Marcus... :rlaugh:

While you & Robert were making your "statement" my wife & I were enjoying the sun, surf & suds @ Pacific Beach. :p

....do you think any high end brass at Saleen will even take notice of this thread, probably not. The fact that nearly every Saleen owner in SoCal that attends this show yearly is pissed off, doesn't matter much. Their response will be the same, we're making one annual show into 10 shows a year to keep everyone happy!! Great answer, way to know what the public wants.....I've got a few choice words to describe that as I don't sugar coat a poor decision but I'll keep it clean and give the decision by Saleen: :notnice: :notnice:

Everyone,

being that I am one of the long time Saleen employees I will tell you exactly what is happening but I would like to clear the air first. Steve wasn't escorted out on his last day, in fact he was the last one to leave as usual. It was shocking and I will always remember that day. I have been to every saleen show and everytime I would receive calls from members outside the area wishing that they could attend. so I thought "wouldn't it be great to have a saleen car show at events around the us?" so I decided to work with fun ford (which is who we have raced with all year long with jdm) if we could have a separate saleen show at their events and TRY IT out at fontana? If it works great, if not we will need to decide which direction to go. Irvine will be turning into the speedlab center for aftermarket as well as special projects. I am trying to bring back the feeling the owners used to have and give them a place to go for installation, repairs, etc...We will still have admin, engineers, fab and warehouse to assist speedlab in their growth but for the most part production will all be done in Troy. I am also planning on having multiple open houses as well as club tours once this is all set because I do undertand that people always want to g to corporate and see where their car was built, trust me I was production manger for 05 and I built many cars and I woulod always like to meet those customers. In regards to fun ford, we have been racing all year long with our truck and jdm's speedlab vehicles and I wanted to show everyone the direction we are going and allow them the opprotunity to meet and join our team. speedlab has so many things going on right now and I cannot wait to get everyone involved from everywhere. I apologize for moving the show to ffw and I did not do it as an insult to my customers, it was more of a "thank you, we appreciate you, we would like to show you what we are doing and have fun" type of thing.

Carlos

Marcus,

That was a great show guy's, :nice:
Thanks for posting the pics of all the cars that attended.

Congrats on best of show Marcus!! Looks like you had a lot of competion!
Your car is looking great by the way!! So is Robert's
Congrats Again on your wins guy's Ha Ha Ha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

See Ya Bill

I'm bummed Marcus didn't hit me when he whipped his car around to jump start Robert's car (yes again...). I would have just sued him for that car since that's really the only fox I like.

....at least mine was there and only took a jump start to get her going! Where was your mustang with a boob job at?? Yet again at the shop :hail2:
So I'm having a little electrical problems, I can't take it to Saleen because a number of employee's said they never made an S351........its an S281 :nonono:

Looks like a great time was had by all. Marcus, great wheels! I guess I'm just prejudice. hahha...

Carlos, thanks for the post and clearing everything up. Having met you in person several times I know you are doing your best to look out for the best interests of Saleen and the owners.

You know its big when Carlos shows up to the discussion :)

Not that I'm a SoCal guy, but I always wanted to fly out and go to the saleen show and stay with a friend out there...to hear it may not be around anymore will stuck. Nevertheless, if saleen puts on a show at FFW atlanta ect...then that definitely makes it easier for me to attend.

Carlos, keep up the good work, you were one of the very few reliable people I could count on over the course of my saleen cars...you deserve to be where your at and good luck with the FFW show and speedlab
