I'm in a 65 hotrod project. A driver, so I'm not going anal on this one. It was kind of a bone when bought but solid rockers trunk needed pans. Ah the cowl. first I will say I've been in the collision rust biz for 44 years. That said, I always establish what the car is, is it a driver or a rotisserie? If the car is a long dollar job then its all the way twirl it and do it right..if not sand blast the cowl get the mig snips and steel sheet metal and get busy. One problem is you have to shop for just the outer cowl even if the inner is ok, They like to pair inner and outer and charge the hell out of you for the combo. I found one outlet for just the outer on ebay I think. some times the inner can be saved and that helps but that whole job is a time consuming job and I charge extra for the aggravation. You can save some headaches if you save the inner and can be done well and water tight other wise git to work. if I have to R&R the whole assembly will run between 2500.00-3000.00. If not, its time and material... hope this helped.
