1991 convertible top replacement

Like just the top or the entire mechanism?

I would not try just the top since each frame is slightly different (manufacturing tolerances). Yours may not use the same staple points and there might be enough differences that the new one is too tight or too loose even after adjustments.

Is this thing free? It would be a pain to replace the whole thing, mostly the adjusting part.

Have you considered just buying a new top and the accessories? Cost me about 500 to do it myself and 3 days of work (1st time). About 300 less than I could find with someone else doing the work. It was not hard, just took a long time to trial and fit everything. Not as good as a professional, but I like the challenge.

The only thing I had to get was the air stapler that would fit the proper staples.

it a lot closer to free than 500 dollars, i also dont have an air stapler, i have found top kits for about 300 dollars, i might just go ahead and get one of those i guess if i can just unbolt the whole top from the old car and put it on mine.
