We bought a nice rust free 1989 Mustang body, 302 , no engine or engine bracketry (wiring intact).... Bought a complete low mileage 1998 Explorer 302 engine/ 4r70w trans. all intact. Will it drop in as is or does it need the Mustang engine bracketry?...Trying to keep the costs inline?.. I see fancy pulley/bracket kits online, want to stay near to stock as possible. To me it looks like it would mount in???..Already have the valve spring change over, etc.

It needs the mustang specific accessories, oil pan, oil pump pickup and some other misc hardware. You'll also need the distributor, and all the mustang 1989 specific wiring that goes with the car.

For example, you'll need this to get the engine in the car

Pretty much rip the motor down to the long block and start from there. It's a lot easier when you are replacing a standard 5.0 HO and can use that as a donor for all the hardware and brackets and such you'll need. Picking up all those parts separately is going to nickel and dime you.
