Hey guys my v6 is having a hard time starting up on the first start after a cold night. Sometimes it will start after a long crank but other times it will struggle to get up to the correct cold idle speed which is around 750 to 1000 rpms. Other times it will start but die within two to three seconds. Any help is greatly appreciated!

First, clean your MAF. Use only a cleaner designed for the job. No brake clean. No carb/choke cleaner.

Next check for vacuum leaks. Even a very small leak can cause problems. Don't cut corners here as the odds actually favor this being your problem.

Are the battery terminals clean and tight? Go to your local autoparts store and have the batery tested.

When was the last time the fuel filter was changed?

Confirm when the key is on, does the theft light go out after a 3 second "prove out"? Also confirm that the theft light does NOT come on during cranking.

Try this, turn the ignition key on/off/on/off several times without cranking. Do you hear the fuel pump run each time the key is in start? Does this improve starting? If so, suspect fuel pressure leak down or a weak fuel pump.
