2003 3.8 mustang heater core bypass tube rusting and leaking

I have a 2003 with the 3.8 engine. The heater core bypass tube is rusted and leaking near the water pump. Is there a way to cut that small section off and replace it with rubber or does it have to be metal. Is there any other way to fix it? Have searched day and night everywhere and can't find a replacement part for it. I live in Ontario,Canada by the way.
