Im having a heck of a time finding my timing marks to get TDC. The last guy painted the blancer/crank pulley. I see what looks like an A then a line then an O is that it? 1999 3.8 I have nothing like what the crappy haynes manual shows.

If you have coil packs, you probably don't have timing marks. The timing is set by the computer and there is no need to set a timing as there is no distributor. What is the reason you are looking for the timing? Planning to change the chain? The crank and cam gears have timing marks on them. Some of the balancer's that have timing marks have a long line on either end and a long line in the middle. The middle position on pulleys represents TDC.

I was double checking the setting of my camshaft sensor assembly, I just did the finger in the whole trick for TDC (LOL) and I had it perfect, even without the tool ( I ordered the tool to check it) I got it now. Thanks for the replies.
