351w retro fit roller engine build. Pushrod length?

Ok first off I have a pushrod length checker but it'll be the first time using one. i'm just trying to get an idea of what size length to start at.

The engine consists of a stock deck 351, hydraulic roller lifters, GT40 virgin heads , .040" compressed head gasket thickness. I know all those are major factors in length needed.

Can anyone give me any ideas or pointers on checking pushrod length? I know its best to mark the valve stem tip with a black marker first.

I'd start at stock length and go from there.

Mine are 7.6" but that's with AFR 225's and stud mount rockers. Here's some good info that should help you out, Setting Pushrods Length, Quick and Easy- Car Craft Magazine
