I'm in the process of converting my 4cyl 89 coupe to 8cyl. So far I have changed the front suspension, engine and tremec trans. Now I'm trying to wire everything back up. I think I have everything connected exept for the wires that go to the trans and there is a set of 6 wires and connector coming from the computer harness that the 4cyl dash harness doesnt have a mate for. Here is a pic of it. Could someone tell me what it is used for? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

i'm assuming that your car was an auto, and you've added a 5 speed to it, if so, just be sure that all the 5 speed harness wires are connected at the dr side kick panel, and that you plug in the plugs taped up under the clutch pedals and you'll be ok

Both cars are 5 speed. Everything is connected except this. The donor car has the mate to this plug and the wires run up behind the dash into the maze of wires back there. Here is a pic of it. The 4cyl car does not have this.

An 87 5.0 harness was used.
Here is a pic of the 4cyl harness from firewall to computer. Everything is the same except for the missing connector.

And a few other progress pics. I still have to put the fuel lines on.

The rear is a little high. Its because I haven't changed the rear stuff over yet.

My 91 Notch is a 4cyl to 8cyl swap. I used all 92 GT stuff.....If I remember correctly, I think I had that same connector left free also. I was pist when I was putting it together, and I couldn't figure out what it was for. If I had that I left it hang free.

Is that on the passenger side kick panel?? IF it is I had that too.

It is easy. I had both cars stripped, and one car done and running in three days..by myself. I had no help pulling, swapping or installing my motor/trans/wiring/clutch pedal box. I went from auto to stick, and swapping the clutch pedal box took the longest. I had a hoist and air tools, which helped me out.

GET A DONOR CAR!!!! That will make things fast and easy. Try to find two cars the same year or 1 year apart. I had a 91 Cyl Coupe and a 92 GT v-8. Easy swap, everything was the same!!!

Congrats on everyone who did this swap. I did a t5 swap and put in a different 5.0 engine also. For me the most time consuming was the pedals also. Was way easier when I just took out the drivers seat and removed the dash. Then it was fairly easy. I decided to go with carbed though. The person who had the car before me hacked up the harness so bad which is part of why I just got a universal wiring harness and totally rewired the whole car. Was a fun project though and I learned a lot. EFI is great when it's all there and complete but boy is it a nightmare if it's not lol.

Sometimes pulling the dash makes it easier, I didn't do that on this car. But I did have the driver seat out. Boy those seat studs that stick up out the floor sure are hell on your back!!! I was all cut up, but my adreniline was pumping and it was 90* that day, and I wanted it done!!!

ok thanks i have a 91 5.0 vert but ive never been much of a convertible guy so id like to find a notch, but most of the ones i see that are reasonable price are 4 cyl.
