Guy's,
There has been a ton of discussion on this over the
past couple of years. I'm gearing up for it, and have read
through all the old posts I could find, but I'm down to two
questions.

- The manual says that with the hydraulic lifters if you're
outside a certain tollerance you have to replace the pushrods
with ones of different lengths.... Did anyone run into this, and
if so where did you get the replacements ?

- 69 heads have the old style larger spark plug holes. Any
reccomendation as to what plug I should use ?

I put a set on a car before. Yeah the pushrods may be a little different in length. Mine definately were because I had used "chevy 1.94/1.60" valves which are shorter than the Fords valves. I just got ahold of a set of custom length Chevy pushrods to solve that problem.

If I were you, use the pushrods that were stock to the BLOCK you're using and check the wear pattern/geometry on the valve stem. Make deviations from that point. Most of ford's heads are all cast the same (as far as their heights and dimensions) but the blocks were different with different deck heights. The pushrods essientally correspond to the particular block.

On the spark plugs, start off with Autolite 45's and go from there. (hotter or Colder) The 45's seem to be the middle of the road and I think work pretty good and burn the cleanest.

Thanks Guy's, I've been out of town and am just getting this now.

From what you've said, I may require new stock rods for my 302,
as the heads hvae been rebuilt, and have new, stock valves, so any
wear on the rods may be an issue. On the other hand, it''s bound to be
tigher than it is as it sits !
