Ford's 7.3-Liter V-8 Makes 789 Naturally-Aspirated Horsepower With Built Internals
The giant gasoline V-8 in Ford's new Super Duty pickups can make huge naturally-aspirated power—and it can fit in a Fox-body Mustang.www.roadandtrack.com
I'm intrigued by this. Lots of potential.
I'm curious to see what the aftermarket comes up with in terms of support for things like k-members, headers, swap kits, etc. It's a much tighter package than the coyote, and a nice, low-profile intake would make it more appealing towards swaps. New cam profiles wouldn't hurt either.
Of course, it will be years before 7.3's are readily available in a junkyard for cheap. But I think I'm more interested in this engine as a swap motor, vs a coyote.
Has anyone revealed the weights of the 7.3L vs a coyote or 5.0?
I love the coyote but you really do have to have deep pockets to play with that motor. I guess only time will tell on this one...
I like it too and I have my days where I want something new, like a 9000rpm coyote, then I start crunching numbers...
The reality is that i'll spend more and most likely land up with less.
