73mm caliper upgrade clearance..?

I'm gonna be upgrading my stock brakes soon in my 79 to the 11" 87-93 rotors. I'm considering going ahead and putting the 73mm calipers on while I've got it all tore apart. Anyway, I was wondering if anybody has used these 73mm calipers with draglite rims. I'm running 15x7 w/ 4.5 backspacing. I'm hoping somebody has this same setup and can assure me that those will fit behind the draglites. I'm kinda thinking that it won't work, because I think I remember someone saying that they had to grind down an ear on the stock 60mm calipers to make them work with draglites. Anybody??

I've heard of having to grind down the ear on stock calipers to fit 14" wheels from a 4cyl stang, never heard of grinding down brakes for draglites though.

Maybe thats what I was thinking about. Not sure.. Anybody else...

Mine wouldn't clear the stock caliper bolts, had to switch to the older style allen wrench style bolts, this is with the stock calipers, not sure if youll have any other issues with the 73mm, if they are any larger physically I believe you will

I don't think the 73mm units are larger calipers, just larger pistons in the same size caliper?

I could be wrong, but this is how i've understood it.

Same here. I think the piston size is the only thing that changes.

I guess I'll try emailing discbrakesareus, and see if they know whether or not the 73mm's are physically bigger. Thanks for the help fellas..
