I am I stalling an auburn gear limited slip unit and a 4:10 gear in a 1999 mustang gt automatic. Have assembled it 20 times probably in the last two days. Took the axle out and installed everything. Set backlash to .008 once I reinstalled the axle and test drove it there was a definate whine during deceleration. I removed everything this time leaving axle in the car. I adjusted the pinion in more and checked gear mesh. Loomed like the drive was hitting way out on the heel and the coast was way in on the toe. So added another .008 to the unit. Still same wear pattern. Moved the backlast to 10 and test drove. Whine has not changed. Going to tear it apart again. Problem is this is my first time doing A gear swap so I am looking for some help. I seem to be having a hard time getting good marks on the gears after applying paint. Also would like some help reading the marks.
