If anyone cares, our 88 Mclaren has just had:
All codes are gone and my sincere thanks go out especially to jrichker, HISSIN50, liljoe07 and all others who chimed in to advise me. Car runs great now.

If anyone cares, our 88 Mclaren has just had:
- Replaced TAD vacuum switch (boneyard pocket part)
- Replaced EGR valve & sensor (boneyard $5.57 looked new) old one turned out to be OK just stuck
- Had a local machine shop replace corroded coolant nipples on EGR spacer with 1/8" pipe thread/1/4" nipple and clean unit to look like new ($20)
- Cleaned all throttle body related parts
- Complete cooling system flush including pulling block drain plugs.
- Replaced all cooling system hoses
