Hello,
Doing ground up resto on a 90LX. Always wanted 03 cobra wheels. Have the SN 95 swap to cobra brakes with 96+ spindles. PA racing k member and control arms with SVE coil overs.
After watching KASL customs video on 18 “ wheels on a fox, I decided to get a set of 18x9 03 cobra wheels. Now at this point the car is still in the air and have yet to purchase tires. Mocked the front wheels on and they’re sticking out pretty far passed the fender. Wondering if anyone has any idea if it could be a result of any specific part(s) of my setup. Thought about looking into a set of 1” short A arms… really that’s all I’ve got at this point. I’ve read that may require notching of the shock tower to allow CC clearance…

Thoughts…?

Swapping from the 96+ spindles to the 94-95 spindles will pull them in about 1/4”. Unsure of the k-member requires 96+ spindles as some do due to relocated steering rack location.

Check the backside of the rim to the coil-over. If you pull the wheels in using shorter a-arms, you run the risk of the rim hitting the spring, requiring a spacer. Usually it’s less of an issue with 18” wheels but gotta pay attention here.
 
1 inch shorter control arms would bring issues with the wheels rubbing on the inside wheel well. Those wheels do seem to poke out quite a bit. Use a straight bar and measure the back spacing. They could've boxed them wrong. I hate custom wheel shopping.

I have Maybe 3/8” clearance. With shortening the a arm length at the bottom, I wasn’t sure how that would affect it at the top. And obviously I don’t want to have to use a spacer cause that would undo what I’m trying to fix
 
Unfortunately need to use a little trigonometry to calculate how much pulling the a-arm in will affect up top. 1” shorter a-arm might correlate to only 3/8” up top. Unfortunately I don’t really have all the angles and numbers I would need to do a napkin Calc.

What do you have available for options for shorter arms?

Yeah. I have full turning clearance but bringing in an inch would probably change that requiring the need for rack limiters…

By options, do you need manufacturers of shorter arms or lengths of shorter arms?
 
What lower control arms are you using?

I have a similar set up to what you are trying to do.

I have 90 GT with a stock k-member with the lower control arm mounts modified to move the arm in 0.75" (I think most aftermarket k-members incorporate this mod in their design). I am using the stock length fox control arms and 96+ spindles. I have coil overs and 18x9 Saleen Reps all around with a 24mm offset. I needed to use a 5/16" spacer for my rim to clear my coil over spring but here is my tire/rim to fender alignment. Front tires are 255/35/18.

Planning on that same tire size. My k member and control arms are PA racing. Factory length arms
 
In the event of getting shorter or adjustable control arms… i notice most manufacturers either recommend or require the use of THEIR k members. Now is this them trying to force people into buying their stuff or would they’re really be a compatibility issue. I ASSUME all mounting points and dimensions would be the same.‍
 
The problem is either the A arms or the spindles. Also the k member a arm mounting points aren't the same across the board so that maybe contributing to the issue as well. I personally would swap out the spindles to 94/95 spindles and see where your at there. It's the cheapest and easist part change to try. I have UPR moly kmember, a-arms, with 94 spindles on a 93 and 88 and neither have a problem like that. Both have 17x9 front wheels with 245/40 tires. One has 14" coilover springs while the other has 12" coilover springs. The one with 14" springs put the coilover collar right where the rim end would be with barely any space between so had to flip collar to resolve rather than run a very thin spacer.

96+ on left, 94-95 on right. I see the difference where wheel hubs mount. Will definitely try to get these swapped out. Now my concern with this, as well as the aforementioned suggestion of shorter A arms, this will bring the wheel closer to the coil over. At the moment I have about 3/8 clearance
