94-96 automatic tranmissions reliable?

I want to purchase a 94-96 mustang GT and was going to get an automatic but I wanted to know how reliable those tranmissions are because all the stangs I see have at least 100k miles on them. I'm worried about the trans because I have a 1990 2.3L with an automatic with just over 100k miles and the trans overheats and spits out fluid. thanks
