The speedometer quit working years ago when my grandparents owned the car. They bought it new. About 2002 my grandfather took it to get inspected and it quit working after the inspection. I have change out the gears a couple of years ago, but I don't remember seeing the burned connection leading to the speedometer on the back of the instrument cluster. As you can see, it got very hot. I changed out the ECM last year after finding a burned capacitor in it. Not sure if it is related to the inoperative speedometer. The burnt speedometer circuit board connection also feeds the anti-theft alarm module. Not sure if the alarm feed sent power up stream or if the speedometer circuit shorted. Any ideas on why this might have happened? I don't want it to happen again. Any help is appreciated.
