Welcome to the forum! Doing anything on a tiny budget is near impossible. I had a tiny budget on my build but blew that out of the water! The search function will be your best friend. As far as the 351 you have listed, the motor will work fine as long as it has good compression or is being rebuilt, but you will need a different intake, oil pan, cam, headers and much more. Also the stock heads are not ideal for performance applications. If you are swapping from a v6 you will need LOTS more parts! So do some searching, then some more searching, then let us know if you have any questions! Good luck with your build!

well yes i am swapping from a v6! since i have little experience with this kind of stuff its hard to find out exactly ehat i need and what not. but my plans for this motor is for it to be twin turbo. i almost know exactly what i need for the motor to get it to that stage suck as cam forged pistons alluminum heads long tube headers and as for the rear end i think im going to need to get the 8.8 rear end. transmition will be a 6 speed with a stage 3 clutch alluminum drive shaft and as for the gears im leaning toward 4:10. again this is from having little to no experience with this kind of stuff. if you can give me a list of perferred parts i would need to get (kidna like a shopping list) crossing them out one by one as money rolls in that would be epic! thanks for all the help you ahev already given me

George,
We all love to see auto enthusiast, especially new/young ones. However if you want to build something that isnt stock then no one can give you a list of step by step instructions and parts list. This is a CREATION of YOURS. It is something that you are planning to give life to. It is very much like becoming a mother. In your case you are becoming a mother for the first time. Every mother wants a how to be the perfect mommy book. Its just not going to happen.

I know what you are going through as I am on my first build and on a very limited budget as well. I am creating a merger so to speak. I am merging a 1961 Falcon with a 1994 Mustang GT. So no one could give me a list because every build is different. Mainly because of preferences. You have a picture of what you want to do so just write it all down. Do your research and take one bite at a time.

You say you have little to no budget for this project. Well reality may be a cruel factor for you to deal with. A twin turbo alone will be between $1000-$8000 depending on if you want to fab everything from junkyard parts or purchase a kit, if you want small turbos that spool up quick or larger ones that never run out of boost. This is just a sample. To build the engine with forged innards, aluminum heads and different intake is going to run another $2000-$3000. Upgrading the fuel system to accommodate the turbos another $400-$1000. Rebuilding the transmission to handle the HP another $2000. Building a 8.8 to handle that power $1000-$2000. Not sure what a roll cage will be.

Not trying to pop your bubble here. Just letting you know that what you desire will take a lot of research to find what is your biggest bang for the buck. Once you figure out exactly what you want then you have to figure out a plan and a budget to get there. Once you have all of that in place then you can start asking questions on specific things that you need help with.

I think the first thing you need to ask yourself is what is the purpose of this build and how important is it for me to do. Once you answer that then and only then can you figure out the budget and time to invest in your goal.

Keep us posted because we are very interested in your project as well as eager to help in any way possible. When it is time.

yea i understand everything you are saying and i did some number crunching and figured this build will cost from $8,000.00-$12,000.00 depending on were i find the parts and what not. i guess the purpose of this build is self satisfaction. everyone keeps telling me my car is slow or my car is crappy and what not. everyone keeps telling me that with the money i soend on this car i can go out and by a different one...well i dont want a different car if i did i would have something else...i built this car into its present condition as it is....being that it is my first car and i had to build it from the ground up im proud of it..but as you saievery mother wants the best for her kids and i feel the best for my kid would be this new drive train. a freind of mine said that i would need to find investors but i dont see how building my dream car would be a good investment to any one but my self....but ya never know right? but thx for all of your help and future help =]

Ragtop,

I will have 8-10k in my build and if I add turbos its gonna be even more. Yes I could buy a nice Mustang thats already built for the same amount of money but its just not the same as building something from the ground up just the way you envision it. My Falcon will be unique and a one of a kind. It wont be the fastest or even the best built but it will be my build and I will be proud of it. The new generation in general just want things handed to them like they deserve something they have yet to earn. Sometimes its just the principle of it to do yourself. I for one applaud Gearge for having a dream and wanting to carry through with it even if its not the cheapest, fastest, or best car for the money. Just my $0.02 worth.

Dont get the wrong impression. Im a builder not a buyer. With an 8 - 12 g budget he could start with a v8 car already and they can be had pretty reasonably saving him a step. With that cash though he could build a fantastic v6 turbo that would be unique and he already has a start. Ive seen some unreal v6s.

yea ive seen some sick 6's too but ive always wanted a v8. besides a v8 can gain power with little mods. a 6 would require a lot more just to have the power of an 8. and this car will be a daily driven dream car that can also tear it up on the track. just an all around ass kicker. i dont plan on EVER selling this car.EVERRRRRR!!! i plan on passing it down through my family hoping it will bring them joy. yea sure ford will come out with the 2020 mustang gt that has 8--hp stock one day but they will have the joy of knowing that i built this car with my bare hands. besides, old cars tend to increase in value over time...just not right now...some one offered me 1200 for my car the other day...almost cussed him out over the phone..but yea its a dream in the making and it will get done...one day I WONTGIVE UP!!!
