auto trans swap help?????

i have an 88 with bad auto trans. ive been looking for another mustang trans but i just cant find one! i was told that you can swap it for a 89-92 crown vic trans. i dont believe this to be true, can any one help me?????

if it's and AOD, then yes! You'll have to change the shift linkage out of yours and put it into the other one. Very easy to do!

The T-bird and Cougar trans for those years will also fit.

will the gearing in the transmissions be any diffrent?

no the gearing will be the same but use the Torque converter from the stang(if it's still good) valve body(if it's good) and the governor from the tailshaft and no more AOD shuffles
