Backing Plate For Aftermarket Gauges

Getting ready to redo my instrument gauge cluster and was planning on using aftermarket gauges. Was looking at backing plate you can get for 66 Bezel. One thing I notices it mount gauges from back. Seems like it may have a tunnel effect with gauges - just curious what other experiences are - some pics would good. thanks

I have seen guys use a flat glovebox door for a gauge panel. It was kinda cool, I cant find it now. I would look at the GT350R dash for inspiration.

I did find this...."Racepack" mounted to some sorta smooth dash insert.
