Hey guys, i just need some help. I recently got a 2014 Mustang v6 in October. I have about 17900 miles. I have a check engine light for 2 weeks. I got it checked out and i have the bad camshaft position sensor. I wanted to know if it’s a major problem because the mechanic told me i have to go to a ford dealership to get it fixed. What would be the price for labor at the dealership? Please and thank you!

In the older cars ('96 to 2004), the diode in the alternator would fail and cause the CKP code to appear (P0340?). Replacing the alternator solved the problem. (Testing the alternator may or may not show up any issue. The diode needs to be checked.) OTOH, it could be the camshaft position sensor. The sensor could be dirty, too. I do not know if this is an issue on the V6. I have not seen too many threads for the GT (V8) here or on other boards.
