Bad engine mount?

I've noticed a vibration in the steering when driving my brother's 88 coupe. Looks to us like the exhaust header is touching or rubbing up against the steering shaft?/column when the car is in motion. Could this be a bad engine mount? Is the engine not sitting where it's supposed to?
Actually it's not just a vibration but more of a tapping sensation.
