Hey whats up? I don't spend much time around here (don't really have a classic Mustang :D), but I was wondering if anyone could tell me the difference between a stock 302 and a "Boss 302". What makes the 302 in that car a Boss?

Thanks,

Well, as for the motor, the block on the Boss 302 is unique in that it features 4 bolt main caps on the crank, and it also has threaded freeze plugs. The heads are from the 4 barrel 351C and have huge ports. All Boss 302 Mustangs had 4 speed manual trans, and (I think) 780 Holley carbs. Unfortunately, they were not stellar street cars, in fact Hot Rod mag compared a '65 Mustang with a Hi-Po 289, a Boss 302 and an '89 Mustang GT 5.0 in '89 and the 5.0GT spanked them both. In fact, I still have the issue somewhere and I think that while the Boss was close, it was still soft on the bottom end. Still, I wish I had one, as does about everyone who doesn't have one.
