Brake bleeding

So should power brakes be bled with engine running or not?
Bled my brakes engine off good pedel start it up the pedel goes to the floor

Shouldn't have to do it with the engine running. I bled brakes on my '90 Mercury just fine.

What procedure are you using? It took me a while to figure out how to bleed brakes properly. My original technique was off.

Motor off ,it really takes two people . Pump pedal until it pumps as high as it will ,have someone open the bleader while keeping pressure on the pedal . When the peddal pushes to the floor ,stop when you feel resistance or you will trip the valve , close the bleeder and let the pedal up . You may need to repeat a few times for each wheel ,checking master cylinder level as you go

I used the vacuum method it just took longer than i thought. Vacuum applied at each wheel cylinder works great as I am a one man operation

if you have time and are a one man operation do a gravity bleed. Top up with fluid, starting at the back then the front open one bleed screw at a time. leave it for a few hours on each one.
