Carbon Canister cracked

Will a cracked carbon canister create a pretty big vacumn leak? Its with a 91 mustang it looks like it has a check valve that comes off the manifold going to a check valve and then to the carbon canister which has a huge chunk missing out of it.

Probably causing my rough idle?

A cracked CC can cause a leak while the purge solenoid is open, and is a fire hazard otherwise (venting gas fumes near a pilot light isn't great).
