Convertible Top Coming Up Very Slow

Lately my top on my 89 Vert has been coming up slower and slower. The motor and cylinders are all original, 27 years old. I'm not sure if it need fluids or a new motor. Is there anyway to check the level of the fluid? Or anything else I can check instead of buying a new motor?

Unless there is a leak it'll need a new motor. The motor is behind the back seat. Easiest way to reach is to pull the trunk liner.
