Convertible top not working

Just bought a 2000 v6 convert. I pulled the switch there is one wire that's hot of the 3. Dont think it's the switch because it put it in my 02 that I also just bought and that top works. The 02 requires you pull up on the e brake to make it work. I assume the 2000 is the same. The only thing I can guess is the top needs a new motor. Any other diagnostics I can do? Thanks
