Coolant leaking from water pump...

When my car is running, there is a small leak where coolant bubbles out, right where the water pump meets a gasket I guess. The water temperature gauge gets to just above the half way point when driving, and I'm not sure if it's related, but I don't think my heater is working properly. Does this sound like just a gasket that needs replacing, or something more serious?

Yes, the system is probably low and that's why you have no heat. Probably also related to the temp as well.
