I am reinstalling the rocker arms on my factory stock 95 302 Cobra. The are the Crane Cams 1.7 factory roller rocker, F3ZE-6529-AB. What are the numbers for that are cast into the rocker arm pocket right by the pushrod squirter hole?
They are for which cylinder they go on. Irrelevant information for union engine assembly line workers. Bolt them up as you please; they are all the same.
I would bet they are the casting pocket they came out of. So that if there is issues with #3s they can check/rework that part of the mould.
I would highly doubt someone on the production line would be greatly concerned with putting #1 on cylinder 1 and so on. The time needed to sort through a collection of arms to find each number would not make any sense.
Yeah, it kind of blew me away too. I took apart a Cobra engine, and sure enough, the rockers for cylinder 1 had a "1" on them, and so forth for each cylinder.
