Crank Sensor Question??

I just replaced my engine in my 06 v6 and its running a little different than the old motor did, different feel at higher RPMS. Ive heard you might have to recalibrate the crank sensor if you unhook it is that possible or is it done thru the computer with a couple drive cycles? It is throwing codes but i havent gotten them read yet..
