do I have an aftermarket cam???

I was wondering if i did, because I have poor brake and a/c pressure which makes me think vaccum pressure is down because of a cam, also I have the occasional problem with idle surge, and my power band seems to come on late, like around 2500~3500 somewhere in there.

Maybe just a bad vacc leak?
But anything is possible

Your problems/symptoms sound EXACTLY like mine! And I always wondered if I had an aftermarket cam, too. I guess I'll find out sooner or later, though.

Its always possible, but you might have a vacuum leak...in my stock 92 coupe, as soon as it hits 3 grand the car takes off, but unitl then it doenst pull to hard, I would say you probabaly dont have a cam, but you might. A vacuum leak will also cause irratic idle as well

Can you pull a VC and measure the lift of the cam via the pushrod travel distance maybe?

that will pretty much tell for sure and shouldn't be too hard to do...

is the idle lopey or smooth? if the cam is the cause of your vacuum issues it is because of the lsa. the quality of the idle will tell you right away if that is the case.
