Does Autozone or any other parts store sell Butyl tape?

I'm redoing my Cobra taillights (polish, paint, rechrome reflectors, reseal) and i want to know if i can get the stuff locally so i can peel this 20+ year old tape off.

It's like a thick black sticky type of tape.

If you ever take your taillight lenses off, it's the stuff that Ford uses to seal them up.

will ford sell it. I think I have seen stuff like that in Home Depot and other hardware stores.

Ford would prob want $$$ for it.

I tried AZ but they are closed. If not there then i'll try Home Depot. This stuff is commonly used to seal glass and windows

I tried auto zone, advanced auto, and pep boys and none of the had it.

what about a glass shop like speedy auto glass or apple auto glass or standard auto glass. Or whatever they have in the States.

I bought the 3M Butyl tape at an Auto Paint store.

I just asked my Dad and he said the same thing. Any auto body supply store should have it.

www.50resto.com sells enough to do both taillights for $20. That is, if you don't find it somewhere locally.

I'll see what i can find locally first. I wanted to do them this week so i could put them back on the car next weekend.

Amazing how faded the reflectors are. My pass taillight was very dim. I pulled the lens off andthere is basically no reflective coating left! It's all dark gray or black! EVen the reverse and turn signals had faded.

Tomorrow i'll pick up some chrome spray paint and sandpaper and redo the insides. Hopefully i can find some of thaty tape locally too.
