Door pillar help??

Hello everyone currently working on my 73 Mach 1 restomod and making some progress until I stumbled to an issue. Working my way from the front of the car towards the back found my door pillars with some rust damage. I removed all interior parts and dismantled the front dash, but trying to see how to address this issue I am stumped how to take care of it. Any feedback or hints how to correct this is greatly appreciated. I am enclosing a picture of the rust damage and is the same in the other door pillar also.

Hard to tell without being there, but it looks like it may be beyond just sectioning with a few small pieces, you may be needing a donor section from a parts car.

I'd drill a few holes through the original metal just above and just below the rust. I'd take plate steel and weld it on the inside bridging the two separated pieces, then weld in the holes as spot welds. Grind the beads down and paint it.

You should cut out the top layer and than repair what is under it first

We are doing this car in stages than give it back to the customer. First thing was both door jambs. Than around a year later we replaced the quarters, taillight panel and trunk floor. Someday we will paint it.
