electrical help! key on no power

hey guys. i just got done running all the wires under my dash and i hooked up my selenoid and i have no power to it. if i touch the battery wire to the oposite side of the selenoid everything comes to life if the key is on. if i shut the key off it all goes off. put the positive battery cable back where it goes on the selenoid and no power again. the selenoid is new as of an hour ago. is my new one junk? am i missing something obvious? i checked all my plus and everything is plugged in oh and its a 93 lx 5.0

Fuse links come with a current rating just like fuses. A clue as to what current they are designed for is to look at the size wire they protect.

jrichler your a savior lol i was strting to wonder if i had it wired wrng and sure enough it was backwards thanks so much! that diagram is fantastic is there a website that has more like that?
 
ok wired selenoid correctly, now i have dash and dome lights headlights and tail lights and all that stuff. the fuel pump doesnt kick on and when i turn it to start the dash lights get brighter but nothing happens. also the blue box under the dash has a strange beeping sound comeing from it. it sounds like the door dinger is sick but it does it when the doors are shut. and it will beep 5 times and then stop for a few seconds then 5 more and stop the alt gauge says i have 12 volts and is sitting where it normally does. i have the charger on it anyway just to be sure any ideas?
 
ok so i was a retard and missed the fuel pump wire when i put everything on the coil. so i now have power to everything. fuel pump kicks on and primes, have poer to my guages and the selenoid. when i turn the ignition to start nothing happens
 
i think i have it figured out i dunno what changed. i umped the coil and it crand then jumped the small post and it cranked. now it cranks with the key. have a fuel leak to adress then will try again
