Hi guys I have a question I am stuck with. I recently bought an alternator from Autozone big mistake I know. Well when I installed it, it overcharged my system to where my volt meter went into the side of the dash and my windshield wipers started freaking out. Well I immediately stopped driving and pulled over. I unplugged the alternator and drove home in just the battery , removed the alternator and swapped it. Well here’s the tricky part. Now only my left brake light works, and when the headlights are on I get no brake lights. Checked the bulbs and fuses all good there. If anyone has an explanation please let me know. I don’t know how the fuse didn’t catch it in time if something was to fry. Thanks in advance..

We will start one step at time in order to make this an orderly process.

Start by swapping the non working bulb with one that works.

Did you by a chance stick a voltmeter on it? There are fusible links that would burn out before anything bad happened due to overvoltage/amperage, but I agree, swap the bulbs out and go from there.
