Fuel Explorer Throttle Body.....What Years Will Work On Foxbody

Just curious what years explorer throttle bodies will work on our cars? Also IF used on a stock 93 intake would you just use a BBK 65mm EGR spacer to properly mount it to the stock upper intake.

i did a search and found plenty of threads on modifying Explorer TBs to work but none on what years are compatible with our cars.

All 96-01 Explorer 5.0's used a 65mm TB. Any of these can be modified. It is really simple especially with a simple welder and grinder. You need the throttle bracket from your Mustang. Lots of information out there regarding the TPS as well. Will need to modify to fit the Mustang unit or make an adapter pigtail to plug an Explorer TPS into Mustang harness (this is what I did)

That spacer would be fine. I believe the stock spacer will physically work with the TB as well, just a slight restriction from 65mm down to 60mm. If you wanted you could grind/bevel the TB side of the spacer to blend the air flow as well. The stock 60mm, Explorer 65mm or aftermarket 70 &75mm spacers all use the same intake stud spacing.

This will be a few parts, as I make a little progress. I already have a converted explorer TB on my car but it's a later version with the enlarged TPS sensor mount. So anyway, here we are. Explorer on left, stock mustang on right. You can see the difference in the throttle linkage...

I had my stock EGR plate bored to match the throttle body.

You still have a smaller opening at the throat of the intake I would think.
I don't see the benefit on a stock engine.

I haven't installed mine yet. I'm waiting to get stuff together to build an engine.
