Fixed emergency brake

I had no emergency brake. Seemed like no connection to brakes at all. Looked in Haynes manual and the manual showed adjusting a nut on the carpeted tunnel. My car had no such adjustment. Haynes manuals used to be good and based on a complete teardown. I looked on you tube and finally realized the emergency brake is "self adjusting" and the self adjustment pawl on the passenger side of the handle was rusted in the disengaged position. Sprayed with PB blaster and worked back and forth with a screwdriver until it started working again! Yay! Just thought I would post in case someone else has the same problem.

The earlier cars like my 79 have the adjuster nut. Not sure what year the changeover was. I have never been much of a fan of the DIY brand manuals as they are often inaccurate or incomplete.
