fixing a stock tach

My stock tachometer went out it just sits at 3000 rpm at idle then goes up when i start going. is there any way to fix it. i know the stock tach isnt that accurate to begin with and im strapped for cash but
i dont have the money to buy a monster tach. thanks

Are you a skilled electronics technician or do you have a freind who is, and owes you a favor? If so, the tach may be repairable. If not there is no way you can fix the tach's electronic innards.

It couldn't hurt to take the gauge console out and check over the leads going to the tach. They're pretty prone to corrosion.
