Been fiddling with my 69 coupes FMX. It wasnt shift so i ajusted the front and rear bands, changes the fluid and filter. I now have a strong first gear , reverse, and 3d gear. Second catchs sometimes but mostly slips. The ajustment is as far out as the screw will go for the band. New band? And if so....is it possible to replace while in the car?

Are you adjusting the adjust screw out or in ...out will loosen it .It must also be set at a certain inch pound torque for the proper adjustment .
Im ajusting the screw in, its set at 1/4 in ch spacing from servo stop and i tried to get it to 10 inch pounds but it ran out of screw before i could get it there. Im pretty sure the intermediate band is toast.
Im pretty sure if it was split id be having more trouble in with it shifting. It shifts into 2nd and 3d it just doesnt hold in second.
