sometimes after my car sits overnight and I go and start it in the morning it makes a tapping sound when I cycle the key over. Yes I know that the fuel pump must prime the system but not make a very loud noise. I don't know if the check valve in the pump is going south. It doesn't do this all the time only sometimes. Actually is sounds like a starter solenoid when there isn't enough voltage to it.

believe it or not, i heard this sound yesterday. my battery was completely dead. i hooked the jump box up to it and when i turned the key forward, it made the loud CLICK. it probably does not help that the rear seat is out of my car, as there is nothing to deaden the sound at the moment.

its not the fuel pump the noise comes from the engine bay. When the car is off only when it has been sitting over 12 hours. Only when the key is cycle to ign#2 for the first time in the 12 hour time frame then it will start.
