The drivers side seat is bent toward the door. I know this is a common promblem but its starting to get annoying. Anybody have any rigging idea's to fix this? Besides putting in new floor pans. I'm not a big guy I only wiegh 140 pounds so I'm not worried about falling through the floor pan. It's just really uncomfortable.

If your floorpan isn't ripped, then you can pull off the seat cover, and bend the frame back, then weld it, thats what I did with my old seats. It helped a little, but the frame of the seats are made so weak.

The floorpan isnt ripped. Should I pull the seat out or just take the cover off? I've never took the seat cover off before is that a pain? Gezz it took me an hour to put in my Escort headrests. Thanks for the info.

whitemustang89- Your lucky if you dont have gangsta lean it looks so retarted.

The seat frame is only formed sheetmetal, which is pinch welded together. The pinch welds break, and the seat leans. It's not hard to take the cover off, just take the headrest out and unzip it at the bottom, and slowly pull it up.

:bang: this does suck! when It happened to me I removed all of the broken bracket drilled a hole in the floor used a fully threaded fine thread bolt to go up through the floor pan with a few washers and a loc washer and nut on top. The metals are dissimilar but no rust yet! Finally I sealed it with some blue rtv so no water could get in! That was about four years ago no more lean! when the ones in the back break you just get new seat tracks from the junk yard! Good luck! :nice:

I was jerking the car around on the gas pedal last year and I entirely broke the seat and went all the way back while I was driving, thats some scary ****, especially when you have to lean foward with no seat back for 30 miles.

Yeah no ****! I was doing 75 on the freeway... just cruising, then all the sudden BAM!! I'm looking at the headliner. Scared the **** out of me!!! Something screwed up in the recliner mechanism and after that it wouldn't automtically engage the little gear teeth without smashing it down.

I'm tired and that probably made no sense. If you've had the problem you know what I'm trying to say.

I am cracking up at all these seat breaking stories. :D My friend has a 82 GT and when his broke he was racing except the seat back didnt break it was the damn floor mounts. So can you imagine holding on the steering wheel with your butt hanging below the seat!

Anyway later
