Im going to look for a set of nice GT-40 heads.

Now my questions. The P heads flow the best right? What years do the different heads come on?

Are there any other vehicles I should look for that will have heads or anything I can pull?

Thanks

I can say the SF worked for me just fine last night when I used the keyword "Proform" and specified the search to the forums of 95 Tech & 95 Talk

On other occasions ... my keyword has given no results

Thumper has lots of knowledge on the OEM iron heads

I've often suspected the regular GT40's are not as far behind the 40p's
as a lot of peeps make it appear

Only said that to say if you ran across a good deal on 40 regulars

Also ... finding some at the junkyard ............

You very well might need to:
upgrade the springs
replace some guides
replace the seals
do a valve job
etc

Have you considered the cost of some ... ready to go 40's or 40p's
from Thumper?

as opposed to

Your time & effort, and expense to get a junk yard set of heads
all good to go?

Also ... you know the spark plug was moved in the 40p's which makes
the plug boot sit closer to the header.

Just thinking out loud here my friend ;)

I will be able to get the heads for much cheaper than some thumpers.

The owner of the yard Im gonna go to is one of my dads clients and really good friends. He always hooks me up. Last time I went, I needed a part for my truck that the dealer wanted $150 for, he just gave it to me. :)

Good for you :nice:

I always tell peeps to be careful about sinking too much money in an
old set of iron heads.

There is a point that you just get on the back side of .........
performance for buck spent with those old heads

especially when you consider

Heads are the foundation upon which the rest of the combo is built :Word:

Good Luck with your search :nice:
