Got another new engine and its fu***d up again!!! (DIESEL SOUND?)

Hey guys, second time for a "rebulit" engine, las 2 times i had no compression and the shop rebulit the block and heads...
now i have had the car for 2 weeks, tonight when i got home from a long driving like 3 hours... i hear that my engine is sounding like a diesel engine ( that " cra cra cra cra" noise, i have perfect idle, I mean, not shaky engine just smooth idle... the noise definetly comes from the top of the engine like from the back rear top part of the engine actually.....
is the engine bad again? what do you guys think?

forget about the shop that rebult the engine i aint takin my car in there again ever they suck, so i took it to some specialist, he said he could install a 2000 grand marquis engine with 40K miles for $1700 total, Its the same 4.6 modular engine in mustangs, grand marquis, crown vics... ? right? ok and also took it to another guy who clamins to had been a ford mechanic for 15 years, he says its the timing belt tensioners, he says that 2 chains could be touching each other and thats whats causing that noise... he charges me $1100 to take apart the front enigine and replace chains, tensioners, and some other parts like the white plastics that guide the timing chain... i dont know... what do you guys think/suggest? I might as well sell the car on ebay fo whatever they want to give me, im so tired of this freaking ening replacing, please have in mind that this would be the 3rd time in less than 4 months... :( :rlaugh: :( :nonono:

What you do is buy the best engine you can get, and have this shop pay for it as part of the lawsuit. Don't try getting a "value" engine, you normally get what you pay for.
I spoke to may lawyer yesterday about that, but she suggested for me to sell the car... i dont think i can afford $350 an hour, thats what she charges, and if i want to have the shop pay for it, a series of inspections and procedures will have to take place and she will have to be there... so... I guess the lawsuit wil still go on, but I have no place to get the money from... a used engine grand marquis or crown vic....

i build ALL of my own engines and tranny's for this reason. find someone that is a long time ford boy. get him to supervise your rebuild. there are a million details to look into when building a motor. an experienced mechanic will help you to avoid mistakes. i am sorry for your experiences with bad mechanics. they are EVERYWHERE. or you can make friends with your local speed shop, and they can help you. i watch the machine work on ALL of my motors. they make mistakes at times. you cannot chance machine work. learn to check all clearances. buy the tools. jasper is a good source for tranny and engines. very good work. this is an expensive hobby. do the work yorself, learn it. it is cheaper that way. also, when you do your own work with extreme precision, the motor will outlast ANY factory built motor. i have motors i built lasting for the last 16 years. still with excellent compression balance. precision dude. as far as the sound. collapsed lifter makes a lot of noise. higher with rpm's. spun bearing make a diesel sound with miles and rpm's. it should quiet to almost no sound a idle. stretched rod bolts have piston slap at idle and quiet with moderate rpm's to return at higher rpm's. also broken head gasket will detonate the cylinder next to it like detonation at loads. quiet at idle. there will be no oil or water mixing. i need to see it to tell you the bad news. sorry dude. last option... but a motor from junk yard and put it in yourself. they will guarantee it to start and run without defects. good luck.

guys, theres no way to get warranty, im suing the hell out of them, so they dont even want to see me in paint!! as far as the noise, i have decided to go with the used grand marquis 2000 engine with 40k miles on it, they charge $1700 with new radiator, waterpump, oil and stuff.... they take 1 days and a half to put it, they atre experienced in this engines, and its my trusted shop, so... next question will i get pi heads even though is a grand marquis engine? or the pi change on 99+ only occured in mustangs.... BTW billfisher thx for ur advice! ;):hail2:
