Handbrake cable stuck ?

Hey guys,

I was putting on my new rims tonight and saw that my wheel are barely able to spin with some human help.. I played with the handbrake cable a bit and it spinned a tad better.. So the question is, is there any tricks to loose it up, easily, without a lift ? Because that means less power and more gas $$$

since the wheels are off try prying the lever on the rear calipers to see if they are ingaged a little

wheels are on now... how long of a job is it just to change the handbrake cables, and how much does a cable cost ?

Cables are $40ish for the pair and expect a lot of pain changing them. I did mine when we were doing the cobra brakes and it added another 45min to an hour to the process (with help). At that point the car was in the air, rear calipers off, etc. So not too $$ but definitely worth it.

Remember if they are dragging you are also toasting your brakes, rotors, etc....

were you trying to spin the rear tires? was it in neutral? remember when your spinning one rear tire your actually spinning both + the drive shaft

it was in neutral, ya i know but we managed to slack it "normally" by playing with the cables under the car.. i guess the rust is starting to do his thing in the cable shell :|

my ebrake is kinda hard to pull and only goes up maybe 3-4 clicks. and when its up it doesnt even stop the car from rolling think i should replace the cables?

Mine was the same thing.... Time for new cables and/or rear brake pads...
