Has anyone done an EDIS 8 conversion?

Thinking about going distributorless on the 351W using EDIS. Have heard nothing but good things about the EDIS system.

I believe I've got everything figured out except how to mount the 36-1 trigger wheel.

Anyone have any advise on how to mount the wheel? Can't seem to find any conversion kits out there.

i bought a 36-1 wheel from diyatutotune cut out the center and welded it to the inside of my crank pulley. havent had any problems, i wouldnt mind pulling the balancer and pulley off and truing it up on a lathe, but alas i dont have a lathe. yes its much better than sending dizzy signal to the ms and predicting when the next fire is gonna be, its very solid in its timing.

I used the 36-1 wheel from an Escort and it fit perfectly onto the crank pulley i got from Classic Air "Perfect fit Kit" . I then use a cam synchronizer shaft from a mid 90's Explorer to drive the oil pump.

car parts, auto parts, auto accessories from Coolparts: Dorman Engine Camshaft Synchronizer

This was about 2yrs ago, i have since switched back to a carb and regular dizzy, due to an injector that went out on the Holley 2brrl TBI i was using causing an underhood fire, had to get the car running ASAP at the time and now that it is, I'm loathe to change anything.

Thanks for the info on the oil pump...Never knew that thing existed :nice:

Forgot to mention I mounted my 36-1 wheel by sliding it as far up the back of the crank pulley as i could, then using Loctite construction adhesive to fasten it, it's still there after 2yrs. can provide pic's if needed.

Cool! You guys with the 302 based engines have it alot easier.... Neither the explorer balancer/wheel setup or the cam position sensor will work on a 351W :(

Question tho... if you are planning to move to EFI in the future, why not purchase a full function Megasquirt ECU and run it in spark only mode?
