I noticed that the McLeod scattershield I just got has a sticker with measurements from 8 reference points on it, all within the .005 tolerance. Does this mean that I don't have to index it myself?
Has anybody ever heard of anyone that has checked a McLeod and it wasn't within spec? It will REALLY save me a lot of work if I don't have to check it.
If I wouldn't have to screw around with all the extra work just to get to the crankshaft bolt, I actually wouldn't mind doing it. But since I'm SC'd and have the engine driven fan still, I'd have to go through all the work to take the fan shroud off. With my luck, I'd probably have to take the SC off to even do that. Thanks everybody.
The mcleod is indexed when it is made. They index it and then punch out the dowel pin holes. Although if you have a motor that has been rebuilt, I would suggest checking it out.
